DeploymentEditor: Visualize Component-ECU mapping
- Currently, there is no feedback in the Component-ECU Mapping tab about the deployed components (see attached screenshot).
- Discussion of possible solutions (with hierarchical platforms in
mind):
- Tooltips
- Tooltips with logical component names on ExecutionUnits: Easy to implement, but require the user to move the mouse over the different ExecutionUnits
- Add tooltips with ExecutionUnit name to logical compnents in the left part of the view: Easy to implement, but require the user to move the mouse over the different logical components
- Instead of tool-tips, the information could also be added to the label of the respective components, but this could result in complex and confusing labels rather quickly
- Highlighting
- Highlight associated logical component when clicking on an ExecutionUnit: Easy-medium to implement, but require the user to click onto the different ExecutionUnits.
- The latter could additionally be used to provide information for the other direction, i.e. clicking onto a logical component could highlight the corresponding ExecutionUnit, and potentially also the other logical components that are deployed onto the same ExecutionUnit. Easy-medium to implement, but require the user to click onto the different logical Components.
- More advanced visualization providing an overview of the overall
deployment
- Color codes
- Lines indicating the association
- Tooltips
